Whether you are a parent of a child with autism, an autistic individual or a professional that works with those on the autism spectrum, attending an autism conference is a great way to obtain valuable information about autism. Unfortunately, not everyone can set aside the time needed to attend a conference. To fill this need, AWARES.org has created an online autism conference scheduled to begin on November 24, 2008.
According to the conference website, the audience targeted by this conference includes people with autism or Asperger’s Syndrome, parents, police officers, researchers, medical professionals and a wide variety of professionals that work with individuals on the autism spectrum.
Speakers
One of the largest draws of an autism conference is the ability for those attending to hear from the autism experts themselves. Although this is an online conference, attendees will not miss the opportunity to hear from noted autism experts like Professor Simon Baron-Cohen. Baron-Cohen is the author of several books popular autism books and is the Director of the Autism Research Centre at Cambridge University.
Other noted experts include Carol Gray, Donna Williams, Chantal Sicile-Kira and Dr. Gene Blatt. This is just a sampling of the more than 50 experts that have confirmed their participation in the conference.
