ASA, Defeat Autism Now and the Asia Pacific Autism Conference (APAC)

Attending an autism conference is a great way to learn more about autism from experts in the field; details for a variety of 2009 conferences are now available.

Parents, professionals, individuals with autism and others can benefit from the information, access to autism experts and camaraderie that comes with attending an autism conference. There are a variety of different autism conferences scheduled for 2009 with assorted themes. If you are involved with autism, either on a personal or professional level, consider attending one of these autism conferences scheduled for 2009.

Autism Society of America

The Autism Society of America (ASA) will be holding its 40th annual National Conference and Exposition from July 22 – 25, 2009 in St. Charles, Illinois. The Pheasant Run Resort & Spa will host the 2009 conference. The ASA event is the largest autism conference in the United States and the organization expects that over 2,000 people and exhibitors will attend the 2009 event.

Registration fees for the 40th annual conference start at $150 for individuals on the autism spectrum and top out at $300 for onsite registration. Advanced registration discounts are available; the fee for registrations received prior to April 1, 2009 is $225 and the fee for registrations received between April 2, 2009 and July 1, 2009 is $270.

Defeat Autism Now! Conferences

The Defeat Autism Now! (DAN!) conferences provide those interested in biomedical approaches to autism the opportunity to connect with the leading researchers in the field. According to the DAN! website, “Our conferences provide the latest information for parents and professionals, information that leads to medical treatment and metabolic support sufficient to reduce physical pain and roadblocks in children with autism, to the extent that many are newly able to communicate and learn.”

The Defeat Autism Now! Spring 2009 Conference is scheduled from April 17 – 19, 2009 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Registration information will be available in mid-January. The DAN! Fall 2009 Conference will be held from October 8 – 12, 2009 in Dallas, Texas. Additionally, a Mini-DAN! conference is scheduled on June 13-14, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Asia Pacific Autism Conference

The Asia Pacific Autism Conference 2009 (APAC 09) will take place at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre in Sydney, Australia from August 20 – 22, 2009. The keynote speakers for this event are confirmed and include Tony Attwood who is widely known for his Asperger’s Syndrome research. Other keynote speakers are Dr. Eric Fombonne, Dr. Francesca Happe, Professor Patricia Howlin and Thorkil Sonne. Although details are not currently available, the US Autism and Asperger Association and the National Autism Association are already preparing for their 2009 conferences.
